There was funky fashion, there was glamour, there was glitz. There were gorgeous lehngas, glorious sarees and stitched sarees. There were chooridar ensembles, bright and soft and flowing. The occasion was the Neeta Lulla Bollywood Fashion Show held at the Pearson Convention Center on April 16 and it was a huge success.
Organized by Nirvana - Flavours of India, this Fashion Show was one of the most dazzling events ever held in Toronto.
"This Fashion Show has been one of the most spectacular Show I have ever seen", says Manish Dube. "I have never seen a Show like this not only in Toronto , but in North America ".
"Are the models from Mumbai", asked a lady attending the Show.
No, the models were from Toronto itself carefully selected from dozens of aspiring models by Renu Mehta, who organized the Show on behalf of Nirvana.
"Some of the models were dancers so they were very sleek and graceful", revealed Renu Mehta. "A few of them had prior ramp modeling experience and one of them was an Image Consultant who taught girls how to walk the walk. The main thing was these models are one of the best that Toronto has ever seen".
Neeta Lulla, who arrived just a few days before the event, worked her magic to create a fabulous Show. No wonder, she has been called the Queen of Indian Fashion and is one of the premier fashion designers of India .
She has been instrumental in dressing many leading Bollywood actresses including former Miss World and actress, Aishwarya Rai, Sridevi, Juhi Chawla, Ameesha Patel, Kareena Kapoor, Shilpa Shetty and the list goes on.
"Neeta's passion for designing combined with her immense creativity serves as a motivating factor for many of her aspiring designs. Her designs are known to empower and she is best known for her
simple yet lavish styles", said Tony Singh and Sukhi Ghumman, owners of Nirvana - Flavours of India Restaurant, who were instrumental in launching this unique designer in Canada .
"Our restaurant has been launched as a new and unique concept gallery restaurant with a definitive Indian theme in Mississauga ", say Singh and Ghumman. "Our aim is not only to initiate authentic Indian cuisine for the South Asian and the Canadian palate, but to club this with a culture statement. We want to focus on art, culture and Fashion and want to bring many more unique Shows to Toronto ".
At the Show, Neeta's exotically woven fabrics and elegant gowns were a rare treat, as the models pirouetted up and down the 60' ramp in her arabesque.
Egyptian designs and unstructured soft silhouettes with the classic contemporary and chic look.
